“So they closed the program,” she said with annoyance.
“The program [indoor] pool is closed,” she said her voice rising an octave.
“I have to swim in the main pool,” she said in a nasal, entitled voice.
“With everyone else,” she said with disgust.
This was an actual conversation I heard while two women came down the pathway next to my house. I was gardening and kneeling right next to the path. I can hear everyone’s conversations and they don’t seem to notice me. I was expecting her to complain about the water temperature or the instructor or of course COVID-19. Not about swimming with me and my neighbors. I guess we’re just so, well, ICK! Like for sure really.
