The Principles of Trees

The sun was weak, and a frigid wind blew across a tree branch that was an ulna without ligaments set obliquely across another tree.

When the axes came, the trees adjusted their circulation to avoid the checklist of cuts.

Alas, a lone survivor was helpless against the guilt of uncut bark and could not forget the disgust of the axes.

I combined two techniques today.

  1. Found words. Choose a book, open to a random page and pick a word that catches you. Repeat two more times. Use the three words in a sentence. I made three sentences and arranged them to tell a story.
    • circulation checklist adjust
    • ligament obliquely ulna
    • guilt disgust helpless
  2. Prompt. I used the prompt referenced below for each sentence.

The prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday from Linda G. Hill for December 11, 2021 is “Use the word ‘tree’ or write about a tree. Any kind of tree.
